Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine’s “Enmusubi Wind Chimes” will be held until Monday, September 15, 2025 (national holiday).
Every summer, colorful wind chimes are hung in the grounds of Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine, swaying in the wind and creating gentle sounds.
These wind chimes are not just beautiful. In fact, each one is imbued with the wish for “matchmaking.” It is said that by writing your wish on a strip of paper distributed at the shrine and tying it to a wind chime, the wind will deliver your wish to the gods.
Particularly popular is the area known as the “Wind Chime Corridor,” which resembles a tunnel of light.
Wind chimes are lined up along the paths within the temple grounds, and you can enjoy their cool, transparent light during the day, and the fantastic atmosphere created by the illuminations at night. It’s sure to be an Instagram-worthy spot, with many visitors in yukata, as well as couples and families.
In addition, during the Enmusubi Wind Chimes event, limited edition charms and wind chimes themselves are available as gifts to take home. Many people are drawn in by the beautiful sound of the chimes and buy one for their own homes.
