For three days, from November 1st (Saturday) to November 3rd (National Holiday), Ichibangai will be open to pedestrians from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Vehicle traffic will be restricted during this period, allowing visitors to enjoy a leisurely stroll along the streets lined with kura-zukuri (warehouse-style) architecture. Ichibangai is lined with traditional warehouse-style buildings that evoke the atmosphere of the Edo period, and is a central tourist spot in Kawagoe that attracts many tourists. However, it is also a major road that serves multiple bus routes, and plays an important role as a residential road used by local people in their daily lives. As a result, the flow of tourists and cars usually intersects, sometimes causing congestion and safety issues.
The pedestrian zone will be implemented to allow visitors to spend their time in a more comfortable and safe environment. This will be a rare opportunity to stroll the streets without having to worry about cars, so please take advantage of this period to fully enjoy the charms of Koedo Kawagoe and Ichibangai.
